The design of your home is a team effort, with you, the designer and often other experts and builders taking part.
The first step in the process is for the client and the designer to meet and develop the basis for the design. You may have already developed some ideas of your own or perhaps only a wish list of requirements. Either is a valid starting point. The first meeting will likely involve identifying any areas of concern regarding site conditions or bylaw restrictions. We will review your requirements, discuss budgets and ideas and ensure that we are all moving in the same direction.
The design evolves from sketches to conceptual drawings to preliminary designs, each time becoming more detailed and focused. All along the way your comments and input are used to shape the design.
When you are completely satisfied with the design, the final technical details are worked out and the permit and construction drawings are produced. The last step before applying for the permit is for the drawings to be reviewed by a structural engineer.
